Osteoarthritis

balanced-body-blogs (1)

You’ve heard the term Osteoarthritis.. Now what?

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease. It occurs naturally due to the wear and tear of joints over time and the gradual breakdown of the protective barrier between our bones – cartilage. It predominantly occurs in the hands, hips and knees but can spread elsewhere.

How can you combat it conservatively?

To manage the pain, improve daily functioning and strengthen the muscles surrounding the joints, one can also start physiotherapy, functional training and focused massage therapy to manage the symptoms to start to focus on returning back to normal daily living. Additionally, non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are an effective over the counter drug which can help alleviate pain and reduce swelling due to inflammation.
